Day 75: Koh Lanta
Claire: We had lots of joy waving goodbye to the coast of Ao Nang. Look at our happy faces.
We really like it here in Koh Lanta, it's so luscious and pretty, it's relaxing and has a bohemian feel. Considering it's actually one of the larger islands it feels quite untouched by mass tourism. Perhaps because there's just more space to spread out and mile long beaches. There's no high rises, McDonalds or Starbucks here.
It's definitely a go-slow kinda place which suits us perfectly after a rather busy few weeks. There's basically one road which runs north (from the ferry terminal) to south down the coastline with most of the hotels and restaurants dotted along it. We're staying about half way down the island, just a 3min walk to Klong Nin beach. Our hotel looks out at the luscious green scenery and everybody here seems to be French. We like hanging with the French, they're much quieter than the English / Russian / Chinese / Americans...
Gav's day 75 takeaway
- Now this is what I'm talking about!
- Yes to Thai rastas playing Bob Marley all day.
- Yes to the French importing real cheese and real beef and baking real bread for a real burger.
- Yes to beaches where all you can hear is the sound of the ocean.
- Keep it coming.
